Quite a nostalgic find there dave; one of my bikes originally came from the old 'clay cross kawasaki'. They had a good collection of old zeds on display for many years. I spent many hours and much money in their lol.
cheers freddy

My Zed was rebuilt there in 1988/89 and I have a load more invoices from 1991/92 for spares etc. I believe a lot of their records were lost in a fire in the early 90's.

I think it was the early 90's when they had to 're-build' / moved.
My z1r came from one of the spanner men their '88; he'd trashed it over tibby ramper a couple of years previous, (rear end took the brunt into a tree),ended up rebuilding it with davida swingarm, marzocchis etc and having there lads paint it 'china white'...... I kept drooling over it until he sold it me :D
A mate of mine was one of the many who cleared out their stocks when they closed. Mainly gpz, zxr parts left by the time they let him loose.
cheers freddy

My best memory of Clay Cross open day was in '94, I think, finding a set of NOS A4 pipes still in the brown wrapper in the clearance bin. I paid well over the odds for them - £200
