I did loads of BT courses at Yarnfield just up the road from Stone in the 90s, had many happy evenings in the Rising Sun and avoided the Wayfarer.

I remember there was a place that had a disco (not my scene) but it was the only place to go.

The Wayfarer was pretty grim in the 90s, they used to have discos on Wednesdays attended by desperate BY employees and desperate women from Stoke and Stafford
A few pints in the Rising Sun was a lot better when I wanted to get away from the BT college, I went up there by bike a few times, some really cracking roads round there.
I also did a pole climbing course at nearby Cold Meece, not far from the army training camp and experimental weapons place, I was up a pole when a Harrier came screaming over very low, the jet wash made the pole move.
I really enjoyed the time I spent at Stone and the surrounding area, though crossing the Peak District to Sheffield with the mother of all hangovers is to be avoided.
