Z1000 exhaust

#1 PostAuthor: martfxr » Sat Nov 10, 2018 8:24 am

Hi everybody
I have just returned to Z ownership after about 35 years
Had a z1000 A 2 in my early twenties for about four years
My head was turned by Suzuki's new GSXR 1100 then Harley R1 etc etc
I have always rushed over to inspect any Z I seen a car park or at a show.
When browsing e bay looking at the Z's I saw a very nice looking A2 at D&K
Wife said oh why don't you go and have a look(she also has fond memories of the Kwak)
Well we went over and the bike was in fantastic condition having lived in collerado and less than 20000 miles
The only minus point being an apparently brand new Vance and Hines 4into 1
I got permission And the deal was done. I did pay a bit over the odds as my heart took over my head at £6500
I spent a fair bit more getting the bike ready for the road and titivated back to nearly as good as new.
Still havnt got a new reg from the DVLA after four attempts, simple my arse, have you seen the form!
So now I search the web in the evenings (when the Wife is watching celebrity strictly bake off factor on ice )for an original exhaust
Guess what D&K have got just what I need in the same fantastic original condition as my bike for just over £2000!!
Surely not, they wouldn't
:drill :dead2

Welcome.

Unlike the Four pipe Z1 pattern exhausts are not available for the Thou so the only real choice is 2nd hand, and given they were made of tin foil very few decent sets survive., hence the silly prices.

For eg... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/kawasaki-z10 ... Swl4lbtfe1

These were for sale recently, no idea if the were sold though....

Hi martfxr
welcome to the forum! Great to hear that you and your wife had good memories on your old Z1000A2.
I often wonder why we all sold our bikes, on which we had such good memories, in the past.
Maybe because we were young and wanted something better, faster...
Now we're older and we remember the good times we had with those bikes and we want that old bike back, hoping that with it, the good times will come back again.
Or maybe it's just called "nostalgia" who knows?
Anyway , you have a Z1000A2 again.
Enjoy it, ride it and... share some pictures with us!!!
Let the good times roll (again)
Greetings from Belgium
