ashamed!
Hi all....
been lurking for a bit on and off....thought I'd better join the Club and get started on my zeds...
Just had to get my bsa's fettled first, sorry.
So, in the shed are a brace of kawasaki.....a gpz900r and a wee f7 traillie, just being put back together.
Waiting in the wings are a z650 and a z1r, both non standard. I've had the big one for about 25 years, haven't used it in a few years (medical stuff) so it needs a fair bit of recommisioning!
There's a late kz900 on its way from the States which should be here in a couple of weeks, again non standard.
I like them non standard, I can do what I want with them.
I'll pull them out into the daylight at some point and take a couple of photos...I know you all like a photo.....and I will stand by to have the proverbial ripped out of me!!
Cheers the now...
Pete
oh, and thanks for sorting out the log-ins Jerry...top man!

Hello, Good Evening and Welcome!
Can't you just knock up a painting of the bikes and take a photo of that whilst waiting for the good weather?

Re: ashamed!
Pete,
Well done for posting......no shame there
If you squint just a bit with your eyes nearly tight shut, you can just about make out a showroom condition Z1R D2 in the picture
Good luck putting it back to usable standard, lots of help available from this knowledge bank
Can't wait for your next instalment

Re: ashamed!
don't forget the dark glasses!!
replacement front end in shed...gotta decide on a rear wheel.
Engine has a z1a bottom end with z1r top....apparently makes for better acceleration?
Once the f7 is off the bench this will be going on....eventually!

Re: ashamed!
Hi Pete
thanks for putting a picture on here!
Waw, it's quite amazing what you have there. I recognize some Z1R parts and a whole lot of parts coming from more recent bikes.
If the bottom of the engine is a Z1a and the top is from a Z1R D2 or D3 I hope you used the correct camshafts or at least the correct sprockets.
The cranckshaft of a Z1a has 15 teeth for the camchain, the camshaft sprockets have 30 teeth each, the camchain has 122 links. The cranckshaft of a Z1R D2 or D3 has 16 teeth, the camshaft sprockets have 32 teeth and the camchain has 124 links.
Don't mix those up !
Anyway, I'm sure you know what you're doing.
Good luck with the bike!

Re: ashamed!
Thanks for the comments guys...appreciated.
Philippe...the engine was already built when I bought the bike about 25 years ago and was/is really really strong.
I'll keep a note of your numbers just in case I've got to do a teardown. thank you.
got a zx9 front end for it to replace the rgv250/bandit bits. Just got to have a think about the back end.
Happy days!
