Hi My name is John and i'm living in Staines (Heathrow). Got a kz1000 that I am re-building, I won't say restoring as i'm not looking to get it back to original but just a clean and tidy bike to serve me until I cant get my leg over anymore.
I know I need a decent seat and the paint on it is rotten so in the not too distant future ill be looking to get it painted up.
I don't mind using pattern parts so I guess the above may be 'swearing' to the chaps that like their bikes all original.
Looking forward to reading other peoples experiences and lots of advise as my mechanical experience is mainly with 1980's two strokes.
All the best

John,
Nice tidy Zed you got there. Never had an LC myslef, but had a couple of aircooled 250s and 400s back in the 80's.
Also, looks like you have a roomy and very tidy workshop!

Nice LC, I had a 250 and a 350 in that paint scheme
Z looks nice too, I'd quite like to modify a spoke wheeled Z with 17" Excel supermoto rims

Be prepared to be told to burn in hell for that comment!
I think I'd like to see that too. Question is, would you go for black rims?
:?:

Yep, I enjoy a nice black rim (sorry couldn't resist the double entendre)

Thanks Gents.
This is where I am with it now (see pic), enjoyed stripping it and ordered some parts. Looks like there's a local gent that might guide me through the process of measuring the internals and recommending parts if needed but jumping the gun a bit. Not that familiar with camshafts and valves and the like but confident with a bit of hand holding that it should be what i'm looking for
