				Hi to all-
I'm Brett and i live in Devon.
My brother-law recently talked me into buying a 1981 Z650 , he had his for over 20 years.
My wife also has since bought a 1977 Z650 for which she absolutely loves and has recently rode it up to London and back with no problems.
I have now bought a 1981 GPZ B2 1100, it has 34mm Mikuni carbs that run bad and some rather interesting wires, some of which i have no idea what they do.
The GPZ runs and has an MOT but it desperately needs a few weeks off the road to tidy things up.
First job is to remove carbs and fit some 36mm flat slides either new or good second hand.

Hi Brett, We have met a couple of years ago ( Ians friend from Germany ) Nice bike you have got there . When the injection is removed there are quite a few wires and connectors that become redundant , in fact there is a small sub loom for the injectors and DFI box that unplugs under the seat . Post some pics of any you are not sure about .
I would check out the original BS 34 carbs before splashing out on some flat sides , my 1135 B2 and my brothers 1170 both run very nicely on the originals with pod filters dynojet kit and bigger pilot jets so it is possible , but then anything could be lurking inside yours, from previous bodges to blocked jets so good luck !
Anyway I think I know my B2 pretty well now after many years of fettling so ask away if you need anything .
      Richard

So, I'm in Torquay so it would be great to meet up with anybody nearby.
We are hopefully going to Bmad tomorrow.
Hi Richard, yes i have been chatting to Ian about you and your brothers bikes, i have the Practical Sportsbike feature, it was was a great read.
The bike is in a poor state at the moment but i am hoping to get it running later this week.
History is interesting, it was owned by a friend for the last 22 years and he only put about a 1000 miles or so on it.
I am in contact with the person who i believe carried out some engine work on the bike and i am on the understanding that it was fitted with a Wiseco 1166 big bore kit, yet to be confirmed.
I have attached a picture of the carbs - are they BS34 probably off a Z1100 ?
Any recommendations on the best option of Dino jets would be appreciated.
Cheers for the comments on the bike Philippe, the colours are period ''John player special'', I'm sure we all know what they made
