Hi guys been along time since I have posted a topic, but here we go.I used to have a z1000 but sold it some time ago.I have since taken early retirement so I wanted a z900 as something to keep me occupied.
The problem was as I soon realised I needed to sell the house to purchase one but the wife said no.
Anyway cut a long story short I purchased a kz650 which I have rebuilt the top end plus a lot of tidying up
My inquiry is I am not sure of the model,so if any kind sole could make sense of these numbers i would be grateful.

Welcome, might be worth joining the z650 owners group on Facebook.

There is a dedicated UK Z650 forum if you want more specific help. http://z650.proboards.com/ They also have a Facebook group but its less used than the website. https://www.facebook.com/groups/KawasakiZ650/

Hi. It's a Z650B1, engine number is within range of the frame number which is good.

Thanks for the replies much appreciated.
The only thing that was confusing me which does not take a lot
is the bike has hazards fitted which is supposed to be on a later bike.
I was hoping for a B1,the rest of the bike indicates it as such.
I will try the z650 club just to confirm but if you guys say B1
then that's good enough for me.

Hi 8 valve mark the wire runs outside of the handle bars, just thought who would someone go to the trouble of wiring hazards? These I think started on the b2 and c1 models, should I just get on and enjoy the bike and not worry. Thanks.

Do the hazards actually work? Its 40 yo, things get broken, go wrong and get changed over the years. Maybe the switch gear was changed with what was easily available?

Echoing what Warren has said. Things wear out or get damaged. Your frame number is B1 and they did have internal wires through the handlebars. Can you see if the switches have been cut to allow the wires to go below the bars on the outside. I had some switches where that had been done. Handlebars often are the first thing changed after a crash and non Kawasaki bars were often fitted, meaning wires had to go outside. Is the hazard warning a aftermarket one or genuine Kawasaki, I know the Z900 had a Kawasaki hazard set up mounted where the bars mount. Just reread your post re the hazards, do you mean the hazard wire runs outside or everything, the B1 had all the switch wiring inside the bars and it comes out below the key and goes below the top yoke there. Post some photos if you want better clarification.
