New Z1100R Owner

#1 PostAuthor: Lewes2019 » Tue May 07, 2019 6:03 pm

Hi all

After literally years of agonising, I’m very pleased to say that I’m the buyer of Tonka’s Z1100R ( http://z1ownersclub.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=45018 ). I know it’s a fair bit of money, but it seems like such an excellent example that I jumped once the previous “buyer” disappeared and it was relisted. I just couldn’t see when a similar opportunity would come around to get a bike I've been after since my 20s. It’s being transported down to me here in Sussex later this week.

My usual ride is a BMW K1300R and I’ll be keeping that.

My riding buddy has a much-modified Z1000R that’s nearly ready, so very much looking forward to some laughs.

Jon

Thanks chaps!

Having fun trying to insure it with an agreed value and no NCB. One company wanted £15 to agree the value, but then wanted photos which they would submit to an "expert" for their opinion - and if it was less than I would accept, they would refund the £15. Others seem happy to accept my value for £12 a year, which I guess is reasonable, can't possibly take the risk of it being underinsured.

Welcome! :)

That really is a lovely thing, and the second rarest of all of the Zeds. If I have one tip for you it would be to leave the aftermarket swinging arm right where it is. My Davida was the most-noticeable change I made to my J, which was a revelation compared to the stock one. It's a bolt-on item that can be swapped in minutes, but I wouldn't....

Welcome Jon :D

A good number of us on here use Peter James Insurance for our classics. Agreed value and no claims doesn't count with classic insurance. No charge for agreed value etc.
