Old School 'Newbie' from Nottingham!

#1 PostAuthor: RichD-X » Wed Oct 02, 2019 8:18 pm

Okay... in a nutshell I have been a Kawasaki fan since I was a grease monkey from the (in)famous Russells Kawasaki in Loughborough- seventeen years old- yeah.. long time ago! Mid-seventies to be precise, meaning I have ridden probably all the bikes even I still dream about, I rode the first Z1-R in the UK, was immediately stopped my the Police (there's a surprise.. !) who insisted on a ride, a deal was struck and I set off on a Norton Interpol.. ha ha! He loved it and eventually we swapped back.. different times-eh?
Z650- awesome game changer, the legendary Z1-A/B/C and Z900... I could go on- but am thinking the value if had kept them all! Oh dear....
I have a few bikes now- so here goes, 1983 Kawasaki GPZ1100-B2(simply stunning- and up for sale soon), 1979 Kawasaki KZ-750 Twin (often overlooked- and a great bit of kit) , my Kawasaki ZX-9R B4 (owned from new), 1976 Triumph Trident T160 (Russells were Norton & Triumph Dealers too...) Used to have a mint Kawasaki ZXR750 H2 (sold earlier this year) err,,, Harley hardtail 1200 Bobber (Ahem- sorry- but I like classic American cars- and it seemed to fit- still under construction though) Finally bike-wise a Yamaha CT175 (still in bits -retirement project!
I live in Nottingham- bit stuck in my ways, I like nice people.. loathe nasty people, life is too short- like beer laughing and a good rant... love American cars- have a few of those and a spattering of classic Mercedes- not everyone's choice- but I bought them for me- not to impress anyone... I'm always off somewhere so make yourself known if your local to me...

Hope that helps and an introduction... if you need a mini GPZ1100 B2 in your life let me know

Best wishes to all
Rich

Hi Rich
welcome to the club!
Nice to have a club member who knew the old Zeds when they were new!
As chris stated: show us some old and new pictures of your bikes, we all love to see them.

Z750 twin.....great bike, very underrated, used to have one as a second bike back in the day.
Used and abused, I never did a thing to it  and yet it never let me down and did what seemed like a million mpg.

Welcome from me too, nice collection going on there.

Loved my 77 Z750 B1 twin I had in 78. A much derided and underrated bike back then and now a rare thing as most are being turned into cafe racers or bobbers.

Thank you... My Z750 Twin is great- had one as a shop bike back in the day at Russells- loved it, no idea why it took me so long to get another... This one has done less that nine thousand from new- I have given it a new starter kit (as the need!) and a proper full on service, runs like a dream- now the brown fuel has all been washed out.. yes- I am seventeen again!
Going to lose the 2 into one- getting some Dunstalls and then a local exhaust centre to knock up some downpipes out of stainless.. they look wrong without 2 into 2's I think.
Thanks for the comment on the '32.. :D

Rich
