Hi

I've recently bought this 1981 z650 and confess i know very little about them!
Bought it because i liked the colour and style of it :wink:

I then began searching forums to gain some knowledge about them.... probably not the best order of going about things!

Not sure whether there is a forum dedicated to the z650 alone but what i've found here seems to include them.

Since owning it all i have done is changed the oil and filter and given it a run round the block.
Sounds and feels all good to me so far.

I have no known history of the bike, but appears to have had a respray not that long ago and some top end engine work too as gaskets look quite fresh.

If anyone recognises the bike or even knows it's previous owner please feel free to contact me via PM.

Great bikes, I've got two! Yours looks to have started life as a z650ltd judging by the 16 inch rear wheel.
Post the frame and engine numbers and we can check for sure.

Welcome along :welc my brother has aZ650 with a 750 motor he’s had since the mid 1980s he’s just finished sprucing it up. It’s non standard and a tad yellow but it’s been yellow since the 80s too and he didn’t want to paint it.

Thanks for the welcome and supplying me with the link to a z650 forum :up

I will look in now and again and have enjoyed looking at some of the lovely Z1/ 900 examples on here. i must start doing the lottery again.

I will close the door quietly behind me. :wink:

Here are the frame & engine numbers for my '81 UK reg'd bike, I've tried to identify what i have, but leaves me a little :??

KZ650D-025303
KZ650DE025501

Z650D2 (SR) frame and engine. Engine and frame numbers 193 apart indicates original engine for frame.

Hi.
Glad to join. I have a Z650 and am going to put a 1000 engine in it. Any tips and help would be great. I have some knowledge of bike building but help is always good.
