Morning from Cheshire...

A quick hello from Wilmslow, Cheshire. Owned my Z1b for around 4 years which I imported from the USA. Finally getting around to a ‘light touch’ restoration. It’s fairly low mileage unit that’s been mildly modded over the years. I intend to put it back to stock condition. Full of admiration for the total rebuilds I read about although can't devote the time at the moment, it would never get back together. Instead its a unbolt, clean, polish, paint or replace, bolt back on type of project. In saying that this ‘unbolt’ process is quite addictive and difficult to know where to stop.

I was going to initially ask for help and advice on how to stop myself buying a Vespa, but following the weekend it’s too late for that. What have I done?!!?

Busily working my way through 'Bike Help' at the moment. Already found loads of useful info and contacts although apologies in advance if it’s only questions coming from my neck of the woods.

Hi Biggles
welcome to the club!
Nice Z1B you have there with special paint on it, keep that body set, they become rarer every year.
If you want to take your bike back to standard looks, buy a new replica body set and a good replica 4 in 4 exhaust.
Good luck with the project!
Greetings from Belgium
Philippe

That's an interesting comment Philippe. I had always assumed the orange was a custom paint job by the previous owner and not worth keeping? I was going to have it re-painted in candy blue.

Welcome.
Just get the bodywork repainted as it's currently got a non-standard paint job.
Like has been said, put some repro 4/4s on and some recomissioning and it'll look great.
You are in the right club for help and advice.

Just got a Z1000 LTD in similar condition, where do you draw the line between restoring and maintaining?
Nice bike!

Welcome from the Cheap bit of Cheshire Ian...

The 70's Hodna Orange is lost on me so I'd be going back to the B paint, but in the Candy Red :D
