Long time Z1000 owner

#1 PostAuthor: Martin B » Sat Jul 25, 2020 6:17 pm

I used to be a Z1OC member back in the early 90’s if my memory serves me well. I still have the T shirt and badge somewhere safe. I have owned my Z1000A2 since 1982, having passed my test on a Z250 Scorpion. The Z1000 has been left sat in the shed for an embarrassing 14 years and I thought it was about time it was back on the road again. I am sorting a few cosmetic issues and refurbishing the braking system before the bike is sent to Debben Performance to get it running once again. I suspect the carbs will need refurbishing and new valve stems fitting as it was smoking quite a bit the last time it was started.
I am currently riding a ZZR600 which makes me even more guilty about the Zed!
I will add some pics if someone can tell me the best way to do this.
Also does anyone have tips on how to repaint the switch gear, particularly how to paint the recessed lettering?
