Hello All,
New to the group and forum so thanks for adding me.
Can i ask a question please. I have the chance of a KZ900LTD already in the UK but previously imported from the US for £3000.00. I was going to attempt my 1st restoration project, I notice a good Z900 UK bike with wire wheels (non LTD) are selling for upto £20k. What value would the LTD be if done properly? Am i correct in assuming they will never fetch the price of a UK bike. I am new to this, always wanted a Z900. Should I wait and find what I am really looking for.

Hello and welcome.
Sadly the LTD are not worth anything near the prices of the normal z900, or even the later z1000.
But they are a good cheap way to make a special, or to make a z900 clone by changing the parts that differ.
If you're doing the resto to keep it then it doesn't matter. If you're hoping to make money then you may be better off selling it, buying a normal 900 and doing that.
Other opinions may vary...

welcome to the club!
You're at the right place for asking questions about the old Zeds.
As previously stated by Ultim8pc the Ltd isn't reaching the value of a normal Z900.
If you're able to buy one for a good price and you want it, just do it. Restoring a Ltd can be as expensive as restoring a Z900. It all depends on what you want.

I’d say a 20k z900 would have to be absolutely amazing. You can get one a lot cheaper than that.

If you always wanted a z900 for the looks and something to enjoy and not a money maker then buy the LTD and build it with the 900 bodywork and 18 rear wheel.
It will look and ride the same and although it won't be a pukka 900 on paper who cares.

As stated £20k is not realistic for a z900.
The very top money for restored to as new, with nothing missing or incorrect is £16k.
A bike which has all original parts is not really worth more, but would sell easier to a collector.
However, they are about £12k for a more average restored one.
You can easily spend £6k on a full restoration. I'm doing one for a friend the bike has invoices for parts and paint totalling £9k so far!

Also bearing in mind a lot of the Z900A4s being offered are US imports with the single disk up front. A 900 ltd if you are buying it to use is good value for money in comparison.

I like the 900 LTD. I had a go on one once.

"Highlight of a very wet Saturday afternoon was Bedlow getting his 900LTD out of the van and letting me have a spin around the car park. A combination of old, cold tyres, wet ground and a willing motor made for some comedic wheelspin and near loss of control to much hilarity. I thought it was a great demonstration of skill but on reflection a half cut rider on an unfamiliar bike showed a supreme level of trust or optimism on Grahams part."

If you are looking at investments you are better to wait for the so called right bike, if like me you just like Zeds and want to ride and enjoy, the ltd is great, i have a LTD 1000, i love it, i am not at all interested in value i won't be around forever, so i enjoy it.
