Hi All

Mike here from Fleetwood UK

Just rejoined as now back in the fold after buying a 73 Z1.
I’m 61 and have had virtually every model of bike pass through my hands both as a salesman at a Kawasaki dealer during the 70s ( the best time lol ) which was in milnrow near Rochdale ( Masons of Milnrow ) and into my twenties.
Had a few years off and then got back in the saddle via thunder cat and the Aprilia RSV.
Now I prefer classic stuff and only ride in the summer , I know own a mint 1976 Benelli SEi 750 , 99 v max 1200 and the Z1.

This will be my 5 th big zed but first Z1 , after owning Z1a , z1b , Z900 .
I am amazed at the following theses are all attracting now and the spares availability is brill !
I am not a fully fledged spanner man but love to do what I can and hope I can glean some advice from this forum as well as contributing what I can .
My wife also a biker runs a greasy spoon and ice cream shack up here in fleetwood and we hope to put a big gathering on fir bikes as soon as we get rid of this bloody Covid .
Any local to me members please get in touch for a meet and a chat .
I’ll leave it there for now .
Thanks for having me !

Back in the day I saw one of these before a Z13 or CBX and was completely awe-stuck by it and the six pipes, at 17yrs old the reasoning was the more cylinders the faster it must be.

Would love one (along with a Jota) but what are they actually like to live with, ie are they, dare I say a typical Italian bike?. :?:

They’re very nice to ride , very smooth and the sound is fantastic under load .
Not particularly rapid , but feel more of a gentleman’s steed .
Carbs have to be set up correctly ( as with all multi) but at least theres only 3 , I believe the original intention was 6 !

Engine very much a cb500 with 2 extra cyls , but not as much as the myth has you believe.

Fit and finish is very Italian ( think Ferrari) but quality in all the right places .
It was my poster bike as a teenager, and now it exists in the flesh and I love it . :)
