Hi all, I've just rejoined after 5 odd yeas of laziness! Want to get into my stripped 1000A2. Where do I find some of the excellent articles that used to be on hear, specifically the detailed guide on rebuilding handlebar switchgear? Any help appreciated. Pete

Hi Peter

welcome back to the club!
Rebuilding handlebar switches is a fiddling work and it must be done in a specific order. I hope you have all the parts and the little screws.
Left hand switchgear:
-lower part
start with the hazard switch, it's the lowest part and it must be first in. Put the red button in from the outside, push the inner part from the inside over the red button.
continue with the horn/pass light button from the inside; slide the pass button in first, then gently push the horn button into place.
turn the screws in to secure the buttons.
End with the indicator switch mechanism and secure it with the little screw, make sure that the electric wiring for the light switch is at the correct place.
-upper part
put the switch plate at the correct place and secure it with the screw, slide the switch between the plate and the side of the upper part.
slide the selector over the protuding part of the switch on the outside and secure it with the screw
secure the electric wiring

Right hand switchgear:
-lower part
start with the "starter button", make sure that there's no rust on the spring.
secure it with the screw
continue with the "on-o-off" light switch mechanism and secure it with the screw
make sure that the electric wiring of the upper switch is at the correct place

-upper part
place the "run-off-run" selector on the outside and secure it with the little screw to the upper part of the switchgear housing
connect the two yellow-red wires to the switch on the inside with the two screws

Make sure that all the electrical wires are correctly placed and that they don't interfere with the working of switches.
I gave you these instructions by hart. If I made a mistake or forgot something, just ask for more information.
Good luck!
Greetings from Belgium
Philippe
