Newbie trying to join the Club

Good day all - I'm Steve from West Midlands. Having just had open heart surgery, I'm now searching for the eternal spring of youth - and I've found it in the form of a Z900 A4!
Back in 1975 I took delivery of a brand new, super blue Z1B - I was 21.

Now, at 67, I discovered the new 900rs, which they are apparently going to supply in the old Z1B blue livery. I was very much taken with it, especially as Delkevic can (soon) supply a chrome 4 - 4 exhaust. Then a saw a photo of the new rs sat beside 'The King' - no contest! I had to have a 70's Zed. The prices for even a barn find Z1B are extortionate. Ultimately I found a UK Z900 A4 in very presentable fettle at a very reasonable price. It arrived yesterday. It is going to be painted as a blue Z1B (never been a fan of the later colour schemes really - but each to their own). The engine number is some 20k later than the frame name, so I guess that's probably not original. I'm now having fun assembling my shopping list, which is obviously extensive, and looking forward to a great winter project.

Which brings me onto another subject. At the end of last month a paid £45 for 3 years Z1OC membership - no confirmation - no nothing - just every time I log into the forum it reminds me I am NOT a member - but I've paid and I'd like to access the members' section of the forum and get the Z Power discount. I used the contact option on the forum and emailed 'admin' last week - no response. Is this normal? What do I have to do to join - beyond payment (which I checked had gone through)??

Thanks for the welcome chaps - I'm dealing with the membership issues via PM.

I'd love to attach a photo, but there doesn't seem to be an attachment option for me at the moment (probably because i'm not a member  ).

I don't have a photography platform account, so Ill post pics as soon as I have figured out a way :eek

Welcome.

By the time the A4 came along engine numbers were very far apart as the lump was used in a couple of models.

Personally I'd paint the A4 in A4 colours (Diamond dark Green or Diamond Brown). The Z1b is a fab colour scheme but is probably the most copied paint job in motorcycle history. Be different and stay original. But as you say 'each to their own'

Hi chappy996 -Steve

welcome to the club!
You made the right decision by getting an original Z900.
I hope you can restore it to your taste and enjoy it for many years to come.
Let the good times roll !
