Hi all. Thanks for accepting me into your club. Prior to this, I was a member of the ‘endless search for a Z1000Mk2 club’, but eventually realised that whilst they will always hold a special place in my memories, there are other zeds out there which are equally desirable. I owned a red Mk2, from 1981-86 (lower pic) when I regretfully sold it after years of tweaking and modifying (Wiseco 1075 kit, Hi-lift cams, Metmachex swing arm, etc, etc). if only I knew then…
Anyway, I’m happy to say that I’ve recently acquired a Z1000R ELR (also pictured), which I hope to recommission asap, having not run for 8 years or so from what I can tell. I might need to call on your collective expert advice from time to time if that’s ok?
Regards, Dave

Welcome to the club. You are in the right place for help and advice.

I have couple of MK2s to sort - they are my fave of the old Zeds.

Hi Dave

welcome to the club!
Thanks for the pictures.
Very nice Z1000R2 you have there and in the best colours too!
It took me 8 years to find a MK2 and I was able to buy one in Paris but that's from early september 2016 ago.
Now and then a MK2 appears on the net but the prices are high. I guess the majority of them went back to Japan.
Anyway, if you need help, just ask, there are a lot of knowledgable people on here.
Greetings from Belgium
Philippe

Thanks Stu. A current Z1 OC member steered me towards applying, following the help he’d received when working on various Z1000’s, and his latest GPZ1100B1. I haven’t recommissioned a bike before, well not a bike that hasn’t run for 8 years, so I may be asking some basic questions.

Thanks! I love everything about the Mk2. I have great memories of that particular bike. We all have ‘that bike’ which is an emotive trigger, right? Would love to see any pics you have of your projects.

Evening Philippe.
Glad to hear that your search for a MK2 was successful. Thanks in advance for the offer of help, which I will need with the R2.
