Hi Gary
welcome to the club !
It's not easy to find a Z1 to restore.
Most of them are restored already and if they aren't they cost a lot of money!
But, never mind, just go for it!
Good luck
Greetings from Belgium
Philippe

Hi Gary
thanks for the pictures!
As far as the numbers are concerned it should be a Z1B but all the rest seems to be Z900A4. It has the swingarm of a Z1000.
The triangles for the exhaust mounts are cut off and a rear disc brake is added. A lot of other things aren't Z1B.
If you want to restore this bike into a Z1B you'll have a lot of work to do! Not to mention the amount of money that will go into this project...If it's your first project keep those things in mind!!!
If you want to ride a Kawasaki and keep her the way she is, perhaps just cleaning and giving her a full service, I would say go for it but don't pay too much!!! She has the front mudguard of a Z650 and also the footrest hangers are not original (I don't know from what bike). This comment is after a quick look .
I don't want to take your dream away, I only want to warn you and save you a disappointment.

Just to be a bit of a cautious Carey im going to ask when will you be actually be able to lay eyes on the bike? Like are you close enough to have a look over before cash is involved?

I did the repair on a Z1b im restoring. you will need the original exhaust or it all for nothing, i bought a junker off ebay and had the hanger mounts on an Ltd frame that wont need them later on.
