New to the forum and to kawasakis

#1 PostAuthor: flapjack » Mon Apr 17, 2023 6:23 pm

Hi all, I recently bought a UK supplied Z1B and returned to biking after a 12 year hiatus. I always wanted a z1b after coveting a delivery mileage example at clay cross Kawasaki in the mid 80s. I can stand and look at this bike for hours, there are still some things to do, get rid of parts which shouldn’t be there (especially as one of my first experiences with the bike was to drop it on its side off the side stand and have temporarily used some new bits to repair) but I don’t want to go too far, I like the patina on the old bits. Hello to anyone I met at the Ace cafe Kawasaki day last Sunday (16th April).

Richard

Hi Richard,

Welcome on board. It’s a nice bike you have there and I think I saw it advertised by RWHS.

I would have been in tears if it was mine when it fell over, is it just the indicator or has it suffered any more major damage to the tank/exhausts?

Z Power still have new genuine indicators in stock and if you’re a PUM you get 10% discount.

Luckily not too much damage, I felt sick!, had to replace the LH indicators, replaced the headlamp bracket, alternator cover is scratched up, but paint and exhausts are unharmed!

I think you got off light there. Could have been much worse! Keep the shiny side up!

Thank you all for the welcome, much appreciated. I won’t be able to go to Pinewood tonight Wheelysteve, but will make a mental note. I am thinking of going to the classicmotorhub ride-in day on Sunday 14th May, if anyone is interested, you have to buy a ticket to keep the numbers controlled, but it looks fun and is a great place to window shop! https://classicmotorhub.com/shop/may-mo ... -may-2023/

Hello and welcome.

You're a very lucky guy. I'd still be gutted though.

Welcome. My 1st Zeph11 fell over on a petrol forecourt in Spain. I had just filled it up and told the missus (who is tall) to hold the front brake on. She did then slipped on some diesel and the bike went over. She stayed on it and cushioned the hit with her body :D This was on our honeymoon, knew I'd got a good 'un.
