I was a member of the club back in the 90's, attending some of the rallies in Suffolk on my Z1b, but then started working overseas so lost touch. I'm now back based in the UK and riding a 1981 Z1000ST (had one back in 1984 and couldn't resist it when it came up for sale).
Hopefully there are still plenty of you around from back then? Anyone know if Arnie is still around?
Hope to catch up at a meet soon,
Steve Williams (Willis)

Hi.
Welcome. Looks like a very nice ST. Most underrated big Kawasaki Z ever. Hope you enjoy it before the weather goes to pot.
The black pipe really suits it. They look " right " with the engine colour. If the pipes a Delkevic I found mine a bit restrictive with the baffle [ massive thing ] in and sounded like an old drain pipe with it out. Swapped it for something a bit more retro.

The pipes look like vintage Yoshimura i would give blood for a set of those pipes. :ups

Edit. on closer inspection you might be right on the Delkevic ceramic black with a Yoshi badge. Iv be hunting for a set of Yoshimura for over 2 years now, unicorn tears.

Hi.
Lots of re-badging about. The quality of modern exhaust surpasses the 70/80's items by a mile unless it was a proper race item. Better finishing/materials and welding. Looked at getting a complete original Harris for my B2 [ had more than one back then ] but after looking at a couple went with a modern look-a-like.

Thanks for the welcome and the update on Arnie, appreciated.
I'm not sure on the exhaust as it was fitted when I bought the bike but it sounds great and the bike runs fine with it on. It certainly looks and sounds like a Yoshi so will take that!
Agree the ST is underrated, I love them, plenty of grunt and a smooth power band. They are quite rare too, never sold well here as most went for the MK2
I had a Z1000A2 a long time ago with a Piper on it and that is still my favourite sound on a big Z although the Vance & Hines on my Z1b runs it close.

Vance & Hines fitted when standard pipes were moth balled for the winter
