Not new to the forum, but new to posting. Ive mainly only had 2 strokes in the past, mainly Yam RD's. (350LC's and 400's)
The price of spares has just got ridiculous for RD's, I have carried out several nut/bolt resto's but thought I would look at getting my all time favourite bike, a Z1B (Blue),. Im thinking of a running resto, to start with.
I served my time as a maintenance technician 1979 and then became a insurance inspector (lift and crane Engineer Surveyor) for the next 35 years, retiring in 2022.

My current bike, nearly finished.

I've gone the other way, having sold my blue Z1b a couple of years ago. I've now got an R5 350 Yam. Previously owned RD 250, 350 and 400 between 1981 and 1986.

It's a buyers market ATM so if you're looking at a restored bike don't be afraid to ask Questions on here as there are lots of poorly restored Bitsa's about as people look to cash out before the market drops further. By the same token if your looking at a resto then this board is a wealth of information on how to restore to original spec (if that's your thing).

Welcome, fantastic looking bike. I've only ridden one once on a yamaha test day and nearly looped it exiting the car park, I thought the yamaha representative following was going to have kittens.

Hi mate, I love your elsie!

One of my fave tales about RD LC's is from when I was young. A friend of mine had a 350 and suggested that when he was pulling wheelies that I should go onto the pillion. So I did. And it was scary. He then persuaded me to go on the back of the bike sitting facing backwards. Being young and stupid I did so. He then pulled a wheelie and all I remember was seeing the road coming flying upto my face. We have a local-ish saying that expresses my thoughts from then, "I nearly papped my breeks". Which when translated reads, "I nearly sh*t my pants".
I think that was the last time I went onto the pillion of a bike.

Z1-B is a good choice but I think you're going for the wrong colour. Pic shows the correct colour for your inspiration.
