going to upgrade my single disc to twin disc have bought another disc to match the one thats on the bike, but its a bit scruffy compared to the original.
is the best option to get them both skimmed if so any one know of a company that does this service near hertfordshire.

I thought Al only did a cosmetic refurb.

The problem with skimming is the chatter from the disc while trying to skim it.

Apparently they need to be surface ground ?

£ 80 eeeek!!! that has gotta be close to the price of a new one?

what exactly do you mean by scruffy?

the surface needs to be relatively smooth i.e. no scoring as well as within the run out spec, and also within the thickness limit.

TBH I doubt you'll notice any difference if hte discs are of different thickness, within reason ofcourse - more likley to be an MOT failure

Coventry Boring did mine. They tried skimming it and it did chatter. They then surface ground it with good results.
