boyer ignition

bought a boyer brandson last year (1974 z1a)ive double checked that i fitted it properly but it doesnt want to play.it turns over no problem but i get a very weak intermittent spark.it did rumble into life for a split second but wouldnt have it.any clues?

Was it going okay until you put the ignition on?

ok with points but a pain to set so fitted a boyer for less hassle.using pattern coils as well.eletrics are not my thing

If you still can't get it to work send the unit back to them for testing.

Free if under waranty or ?6 if not.

I don't like to be a prophet of doom, but it's been said many times before on this site - the best place for a Boyer ignition is in the bin. They work well on twins, but I've never found one working as you would expect on a 4cyl.

Maybe I was a bit harsh in hindsight - How about....All those with a good ignition system take one step forward! Not so fast those of you with Boyers....

Jerry, not quite right, the Boyer Branston Pickle chaps will have to 'Step Up' coz they probably won't be able to 'Ride Up' :?
