Seat came from Z-power https://www.z-power.co.uk/merchantmanag ... ts_id=1890
I plan to have it re-covered eventually..... Faux suede & leather.
Next on the agenda is to fit an exhaust, then ignition (Dyna 2000 if Z1 enterprises get 'em back in stock fairly soon, otherwise it will be Dyna S)
& then hit the starter & see how it runs. This will then decide the path this project takes........
If it runs reasonably well, I continue the 'dry' build & hopefully get it on the road this summer, stripping it again next winter to have it all re-finished.
If it runs like a dog, I'll carry on with the dry build, but pull the motor apart when i pull it all apart to have everything re-finished.

Managed to spend a little time in my garage today.
Fitted a set of 'race' (quick release) headers that I cleaned up a week or so ago. If they do end up staying on long term (which I'll be surprised) they'll go to Camcoat. But they'll be just fine for now.
Picked up these little beauties at the back end of last year.
And today it was time to fit them....
Forgot to mention, I've had these in my 'stash' drawer for a couple of years;
All originally intended for a Hodner, they'll look far better fitted to a Zed.
I needed to fab some adapter plates, hopefully I'll eventually get these CNC'd & pocketed, but these will be fine for now. Here's how it went;
Marked dimension's, punched & drilled holes into a piece of 10mm flat bar.
Then cut it with a grinder using a stainless steel cutting disc. These work a treat with ally, don't clog at all, just have a short life, but at around a pound a disc that's not really a problem.
Used the first cut piece as a template for the second.
Bolted it all together & set to work with the grinder again.
Next was for a bit of a workout with the files.
Ended up with these;
Which fit like this;
And this;
Just need to try & source some M10 x 1.25 Stainless button heads now.

Found a bit of time to finish off me LH rearset today.
Kawasaki splined 'broach' (as Harris call 'em) turned up in the week.
Didn't need it in the end though as the Hodner one already fitted slides on the splines a treat.
I had to shorten & re-shape the gear rod. It already had one bend in it & needed some serious beating to add another. For some reason it's a solid stainless steel bar & not aluminium, but it now clears everything beautifully.
Next problem was the issue of the rearsets becoming the 'stop' for the side stand. I've made brackets & bolted them to the back of the multi-holed carrier bracket in the past, but I want a 'cleaner' look, & came up with this.
Drilled & tapped a short hole in the side stand bracket;
Then added an M5 grub screw, which can be screwed in or out to determine the height the side stand sit's at when in the 'up' position. I have also ordered some M5 half nut's so I can lock it all off.
Stand now sit's clear when in the 'up' position & no need for any extra bracketery.

Been busy doing lot's of little thing's that ain't worth reporting.
But today fitted Dyna coils & lead's with freshly made spacers.
Refurbed carbs were also fitted with new rubbers.
I've also been tracking my Dyna 2000 from Jeff at Z1 enterprises........
Yesterday, I thought it had gone 'under the radar'........

OK, bit of an update.
Having me pants pulled down wasn't as bad as I'd expected & I never got the shafting I thought was on it's way.
It seem's everyone else is currently busy on this project at the moment.
After being let down by Webike on a new aero filler tank, I opted to take another route, which I expect will end up with better results as well.
I bought a decent tank from Rob Peters;
Then managed to win a brand new Newton Aero filler on Ebay for £41 delivered. .......... I am hanging on to the budget.... Honest!
I also had a breather delivered from Newton, which was nearly as expensive as the filler.
Delivered the whole lot to Pete Sutton, who does an excellent job, hopefully I'll have it back at the end of the month.
Next job that's been 'farmed out' are my fork extensions. I was let down by a local firm, that just kept promising next week, every time I went in & I can only take so much bullshit.
I got talking to Buzzard at Stafford who knew 'a man that can'. After dropping in a fork cap & then a tube earlier this year I got a quick preview of one of the finished extensions last week;
Don't really know when they'll both be finished as I believe the job is carried out on Saturday mornings 'overtime shift'!
Another club member, that's also been busy on my behalf is Ruffle. Earlier in this thread, I'd mentioned that I ultimately wanted to have my footrest adapter brackets CNC'd.
From what I understand, Ruffle has just converted his mill & needed something to practice with, & kindly offered to CNC my footrest brackets & engine mounts.
Well I didn't need asking twice. Thankfully for me Ruffle is very patient, and his attention to detail is amazing. After several emails & CAD drawings I've ended up with these;
Getting the relief right on the footrest brackets was important, as Ruffle pointed out, if it went underneath the black harris part, it would look shite.
I've already pointed out to Ruffle, I don't think Harris themselves would produce anything better.
Hopefully he'll be along soon to add his comments to this.
Last member mention this week is to Steve Bowdler, we met last Sunday while Steve was passing through Bristol & dropped off a fibre glass rear mudguard, it's not staying whole for long, it's only mounted on the bike while I work out how much is gonna get cut off.
Moriwaki end can turned up yesterday & as you can see, fit's straight on..... NOT
I'll probably re-work the link pipe & make do, but ultimately I plan to have a Racefit system fitted. That should finish of the 'budget' completely.

Yep, Pete is fighting fit, you'd never know he'd been in such a bad smash.
That's good to hear, he's a clever guy. Mind you I don't miss those days in his cold workshop on top of the lower Mendips!
