Chrome Paint

I have been cleaning up the inside of the front mudguard on the Z1. Have removed all the rust and treated and primed with Hammerite stuff. I'm looking to spray the inside with something that might resemble the original dull chrome finish. Has anyone used one of the "chrome" spray paints available, and have they been any good?

Some of the feedback I've seen says they look good initially but degrade quickly when heat/cold/moisture gets to them.

All advice appreciated :lol:

any rust treat with jenolite then paint with aluminium paint

The chrome spray I used was the Spectra stuff, and while it would not pass for true chrome, it's surprisingly good. As with all painting though, the result depends on the prep.
Why do I persist in debating with idiots ? I really should know better :)

yes, very good if you take your time, a mate of mine used it on the exhaust link pipe on a z1000 and it stood up well.

I used this sort of thing here I still got a decent finish and it was much less fiddly. No way would it be mistaken for real chrome, but I doubt anything other than real chrome would ? I thought mine was Spectra, but it must have not been ...

I used a product call plasticote, it was a fake chrome paint (aerosol) and it werent too bad. Thorough preperation was vital as this was to the underside of a rear mudgaurd on a gt250 suzuki. Its available in wilkinsons shops, about a tenner I think.
