in your first post you say theres a strong spark from all ,so to me it looks like your carbs

I wonder whether my idea of strong spark is not that accurate (not helpful I know).

It is doing my head in as it makes no sense.

There is a spark from all leads, but as said when I remove the lead from 2 + 3 there is no change in engine. If I remove either 1 or 4, the engine stops.

I think my best bet is to start from the beginning, put it back together as was, write everything down, what order I did things etc. That way I will not mess people about on the forum.

I had a similar, intermittent problem on a Z1B. After many hours of wire twiddling, coil swapping, plug changing and swearing, I narrowed it down to the LT cables from the points to the coils.

I had a spare , stuck it on and good as gold since ( he says with fingers crossed !). Maybe this could be your issue??
