Trying to raise the needle from clip position 2 (from the top) to position 3, my problem is that the needle now sticks up above the top of the slide a bit more, as you would expect, the trouble is the part that then screws down onto the slide fouls the top of the needle and doesn't operate smoothly, stopping the slide from returning.
If I put the clip back to position 2 it works fine again?
I've read that as standard Z's and Z1a's should be on 3 anyway and Z1b's often need to be put on 3 so why am I having problems, they are brand new Mikuni Needles and Needle jets bought from Allens just last week.
Any pointers much appreciated.

Paul, compare the new needles with the repro ones that came out,and or put old needles back on pos 2 then pos 3....
