Guyz,my a4 was fitted with a 3 coil return spring for the gearchange thought the z1 series had the 3 coil job?,tried to fit a 4 coil job but not enough clearance to fit?the 3 coil one seems much weaker.which is the correct on for an a4???or is there an uprated 3 coil more powerfull spring available Ta Paul j

the four coil spring is only used after 095991 engine number

Good spot ,mine is before that number,had got me why it didnt fit,was the four coil just to give extra strength to the shaft return?

yes .if you are using the three coil spring make sure the tails of the spring are not coming into contact with the shaft which holds the selectors which is very close to the spring. if it is just grind 2 mil of the spring
