Wired george mod on Z1000r2 Elr

#1 PostAuthor: Stugill » Sat Aug 05, 2017 10:58 am

I want to do the wired george mod.

The instructions online make sense apart from relay TRIGGER #86. As the mod provides it's own power cable via the relay, does it mean to connect the two red wires that I have to #86 on the relay? I don't have any female connectors near the loom, apart from the female spade connectors that push on the coils.

The instructions are pasted below.

Cheers.

Stu

Relay trigger #86. Find the yellow/red wire that had previously used to power the coils. It comes out of the wiring harness above the valve cover. The wire terminates in a dual outlet female connector. From this connector , voltage connections are made to both ignition coils. Remove these connections and discard them. Solder/shrink wrap a wire coming from #86 sufficiently long to reach this connector. Install the press in male connector and plug the connector into the dual outlet connector coming off the wiring harness above the valve cover. This is the relay TRIGGER . Note that the trigger wire if controlled by the motorcycle kill switch which must be in the ON position for the relay to function.

remove both reds from the ignition coils & just connect one of them to the terminal 86 on the relay tape up the other red as its not needed . you will then have to make up two new wires from the coils & connect them to terminal 87 on the relay
