Z1a Restoration
I did say that I would start this thread at the weekend so here goes.
Never done a restoration before so lots of questions will be asked i'm sure
The intention is to strip down and paint frame and the original swinging arm and then rebuild using as much of the original parts as possible, even if not 100% good, also paint tank and panels.
Anyway I have started -
Will keep you posted as time goes on

Original Z1 Swing arm has arrived from Ohio,US.
Quick fit up just to prove out all is well before continuing strip down.

Re: Z1a Restoration
BigZCas
Nice to see the bitz come back with no bling on as per the factory finish but then again the frame came out with a blow of black paint and not powder coat.
I prefer to see a painted frame and associated bitz.
Regards
Steve

I've got a '77 z1000a to do (after I've tidied up my z900) and I'm fancying painting the frame myself. What would you (or anyone else) recommend to get a decent durable finish that's close to factory?
Oh and nice job you;re doing there BigCas..

Powder coating finishes won't please everyone but the finishes available now are pretty close.
Frost Extreme Chassis Black has been used by at least one member in the past with good results.
