Z1000R2/ Z1000J3 engine No.s

#1 PostAuthor: Gavin » Sun Nov 12, 2017 9:37 pm

The Engine No.s on these engines both start at KZT00JE-039301 but when do they finish for each model, I cannot find anywhere that indicates when the engines stop being used in either model.

Cheers Mark, but I am after an indicatiom of the number range of the R2 / J3 so I can look out for a suitable gearbox that would be within that range..

To be honest it is actually a converted z1100 shaft gearbox that has been usedWhich actually doesn’t fit normally but the previous owner manage it by bending the engine mounting brackets and packing plates. I want to get a gearbox that is at least in the engine no.range

J1 J2 J3 1000R1 and 1000R2 all share the same gearbox, same shafts, same clutch and same method of fixing the gearbox sprocket as far as i am aware.

If you find something that starts 10BE it is a Unitrak 1100A (zx11) or Z1100R1 engine (same thing).
It will have a different 'third gear' set, different shafts, different method of attaching the gearbox sprocket, different clutch pack but will fit into J type cases exactly the same if you also swop the other components. Changing third gear set is probably optional as i doubt you or I could tell the difference in practice.
Slightly lower ratio on third with the 10BE gearbox which brings third closer to second and further from fourth. Overall output ratio for fifth and low ratio for first are the same between early and later type.
