That looks like an excellent purchase! I’d recommend R K Leighton (Birmingham) to restore the seat. They did a brilliant job on a couple of seats for me.

Thanks for the recommendation, However, I did it myself for the cost of the cover. Once trimmed up (not shown in photos) it looks really good. I have no doubt that a professional seat restorer could have done a neater job though.

Made god progress this week:
o Stripped the remnants of the scabby lacquer from the forks and polished them up a bit
o Checked the wheel bearings and re-packed with grease. Cleaned up the hub and front disc
o Cleaned up all the wiring harness to remove the grot and re-taped in a few places
o Re-fitted the original mudguard as even though the chrome is almost worn out, it doesn't really have any rust or pitting
o Bled the front brake but it's still spongey - I think that's just what it's like..

Re-oiled the K&N air filter and refitted the exhaust and fired it up today. Fired up first stab of the button and runs on all cylinders. :D
However, couple of issues:
o Fuel coming out of the over flow on the RH carb. I'd previously set the float heights and checked them with fuel in and had no issue with fuel overflowing... Can't be crap getting in as I used an auxiliary fuel tank with inline filter. So, looks like I'll need to pull the carbs again.
o Oil weeping out of the LH side cam cover. Doh! Schoolboy error, bolts only hand tight...

Removed thew carbs and removed the float bowls. All looked clean as a whistle. However, upon removing the jets and floats, I found what appeared to be a sliver of float bowl gasket between the float needle valve and the brass bowl it it sits in on carb No3. I also found that the needle jet on No4 was blocked. Blew it out with the airline and no idea what it was in there or how it got in....
Refitted (without the airbox, but stuck some pods on) and it fired up first prod and is running OK. (Thank god!).
So, I'll wrestle them back in the airbox again sometime later this week, fire it up and then get the carbs synched properly.
Cam cover gasket all good now that I have tightened the bolts!
Did a quick check and no leaks from the sump or drive side gaskets or oil seals that I have replaced. So looks like a result.
More news when I have a bit more time later this week - seems to be taking an age but sadly, other stuff keeps getting in the way.

Awaiting some decent weather and I'll take a load of photos.
Thanks for the compliment - I'm sure there are lots of people who are far more talented than I.

Righto,
Carbs back in all running well!

Just a few little bits n bobs to do:
o Balance carbs
o Fit carb overflow pipes
o Fit chain guard
o Bend over rear sprocket nut tabs
o Bit of polishing
o Fit split pins into seat hinge bolts and rear brake light lever
o Re-check fasteners for tightness
o More polishing!"

Anyway, it a decentish day so decided I'd take a few photos.
