Does anyone know where i can get hold of a fork damper removal tool, this is the piece/tool that sits inside of the fork tube to stop the damper spinning allowing removal of the damper and stanchion i have been told that it is a different tool to the one used on the z1 etc and this one is an oval shape that was used on the z900a and z1000a not sure if it ewas used on others like the z650 which shares the same fork legs. you can get a tool in auz but the cost and the shipping are over the top for a two use item, i would have thought we would have something here
There is a picture below of what i need on the right of the picture,

I just use a broom handle sharpened to a four sided chamfer then cut off the pointy last half inch or so. whack the handle down the fork and use a hex impact driver on the hex head bolt. Never had one that wouldn't undo that way.

Yes but that is the pre 76 damper which has the foursided tool, this one is an indented oval, i did try the broom handle before i found out it was a different fitting

Nope, used the same on two 77 650's which are round. the factory tool, four sided, actually cuts into the round tube to hold it. The broom handle mashes to friction fit.
