Z-Day 2018 in Belgium

#1 PostAuthor: Philippe » Sun Sep 02, 2018 1:56 pm

Hello men

went to the Z-Day in Houthalen-Helchteren (Belgium) yesterday.
Left at 8 a.m. and arrived there at 10.00 a.m. ... too soon! The people who arrived on friday and spent the night there were still sleeping. Some of them were allready up and had breakfast.
So I took the opportunity to take some pics.
I saw a lot of bikes there, mostly Kawasaki bikes. Some "original" others adapted .
Met a lot of people I know and met some new people.
There was a great atmosphere, people were talking, admiring the bikes, greeting some old friends and making new ones.
See for yourself. Enjoy the pics!

There were a lot of other bikes to be seen . The majority from Germany, a lot of bikers from Holland and Belgium.
I had a great day and got back home at 6.30 p.m.
I'll be back next year when the weather is good!

THX for the pics.

The old rustee Z1B belongs to Uwe Fuchs from the Z-friends Ulm / Neu-Ulm.
They will hold a meeting next year on 05.07.-07.07.2019 in south of Germany.
For many years I never had the opportunity to go there ...

Hi Gonzo
the Z1000S was changed in Germany. The Z1R didn't sold very good there an then so the German distributor decided to do something in order to improve the sale numbers . They changed the 4-1 exhaust by the 4 in 4 of the Z900A4 and changed the original 13 liter fuel tank by a 22 liter fuel tank, the Z1R logo was changed by a Z1000S logo...
I'v been reading somewhere that only 10 or 11 were sold. :eek
In France they developed the Z2R for the French market: new colors( broad paint stripes on the fairing, fuel tank and side covers) extentions for the forktubes, strenghtening of the frame in certain places and sintered disc pads with adapted brake pistons. The Z2R is not the same as the Z1R II . The Z1000S and the Z2R are both D1 ('78 models). The Z1R II is the D3 (1980 model) which has a MK2 engine.
A bit confusing I know. :whoa
If someone else knows more about it, they'll correct me.

Hi Peter

it's a compliment for the Kawasaki factory to see that after 43 years their product is still running and riding with the "original parts" on it. Allthough it's not beautifull to look at, it's a bike that pops out of the crowd! :!:
And certainly a testimony of the quality of the original parts!!!
Greetings from Belgium
