z1000r cut down rear mudguard

#1 PostAuthor: petrol sniffer » Wed Feb 13, 2019 6:22 pm

Looking for a cut down rear mudguard for my 1983 z1000r. Can't bring myself to cut the original one but someone must have a already chopped one lying about. Also looking for a pair of new or good used original grips for same bike. Anyway get in touch if you can help. thanks Phil

You cannot even be bothered to introduce yourself and yet you want help, don't be surprised if you get nothing.

You can buy fibreglass replicas on eBay which you might feel happier cutting. If you have an original you definitely shouldn’t cut it...

Hi All

I knew nothing about introducing myself.
Well here goes if l must.

My name is Phil for and l'm an alcoholic..
Geez ! Well that was certainly a lot easier than the first time l did sat in a circle with a load of...well other alcoholics staring at me !

Anyway get in touch if you have a cut down guard as l don't want to grind down the long one when l'm up in the air on the back tyre on the way home from the pub !!

Hi Phil
welcome to the club! Put some pictures of your bike on the forum in the "New Here" topic. We all like to see pictures of the bikes.
By the way: it takes a lot of courage to introduce yourself as an AA member and a lot of perseverance to stay "clean", everyday over and over again. Good luck!
Greetings from Belgium

Barely a noobie Paul, just never introduced himself in almost a year, like it or not just bad manners.

hi kev, i didn't introduce myself either, when i joined i had been peeking into the forum for a while. i noticed there were members looking for parts which i had, doing nothing. so i joined and have both helped and been helped ever since. i don't think it's being rude not to write an intro; there's certainly no requirement to do so. we're all on the same team, the way i see it.

Yeah that's all l have been doing over the last year, just nipping in and out of the forum to see what was what. I joined the club but now need to renew my membership.

Does anyone know if the 46019-1015 throttle grip fits the z1000r. its looks the same and probably just wants a larger hole cutting out for the white plastic bar end so different part number...maybe ???

Oh and thanks needaz1100r for the links for the cut down guards, will check them out.

You're welcome.

Grip 46019-1015 - I need to get out more, but....

It's listed for the GPZ1100B2 on Partzilla, which uses switchgear 46091-1180, which is also listed for the Z1000R2, and R1. Also, as you say, the B2 doesn't have the bar end, so it looks like you just need to cut the end out as you say.
Cheers,

Mark.

Hi . thanks for the detailed info on the grips, sounds like they will work ok and l just need a careful hand to cut the larger holes out for the bar ends..which shouldn't be to difficult !!!!
