Z1000R Paintwork
Would anyone please be able to supply the codes required for a Z1000R 82 model paintwork. What code is it for the green? What code is for the blue and white stripes?
Re: Z1000R Paintwork
You can buy decals for the stripes. You could get the paint code for a green Zx7R I don’t think anyone would really argue - if they did you could tell them to f*** **

Re: Z1000R Paintwork
Sorry - I know you’re all very particular about etiquette up there...
Re: Z1000R Paintwork
Thanks guys. That’s the green sorted then. Where’s the best place to get the tank and tailpiece decals from?
Re: Z1000R Paintwork
Have a word with these guys. Found them to give very good service and they will modify or adjust sizes, colours, lengths, etc. They also save details of whats been ordered by name so you can go back and get some more as i have done previously.
Also very good on price and when i went back three years after the fact they asked me 'how much they were last time'. 'That will be the same price again then'.

Re: Z1000R Paintwork
Thanks Al, I’ll get in touch with them.
If I use ZX7R green colour paint for the tank etc, will it require a coat of white underneath just like it had on my ZX7R. If the white base coat is not used then the colour won’t be right when finishing the green.

I was told years ago that ZX7R was the closest match you will get. Dont know about the white base but can ask the pug monkeys at work when i get back next week. I will get a mountain of abuse and an explanation that Alan Turing could not decipher but if it helps i can do that. Paint pansy no 1's standard response to any question is; F&^K OFF!!!!

Thanks Al.
Re: Z1000R Paintwork
.......and on the subject of tanks, I have two petrol tanks. One is destroyed by having a dodgy racing fuel cap fitted. It has a round threaded hole for the fuel tap, rather like the z1000a1. The other tank looks identical but has no round threaded hole. Instead there are two threaded holes either side of a larger hole, looks like the holes on a z1000a2. This tank is ok, maybe. But what tanks are they, Gpz, R1,R2, J ???
Re: Z1000R Paintwork
Sounds like the second tank may be from a gpz1100b model, if the holes are on the right?
It should fit the frame ok, but you will have to plug some of the threaded holes.

Re: Z1000R Paintwork
Rick, both tanks have the fuel taps on the left. Looks like fuel sensor on the right. Both tanks look identical in every way except fuel tap fitment.

Re: Z1000R Paintwork
hi scott, it sounds like the round threaded a1 type has possibly been converted for a pingel hi-flo tap.? m
Re: Z1000R Paintwork
I’ll put some pictures up of the good tank...I’ll just pluck up the courage for the photo bucket saga.
Re: Z1000R Paintwork
Put the photo's on your PC/Laptop and upload them from there I find is easier.
Cheers
