Front wheel rim

#1 PostAuthor: Adrian90s » Wed Apr 10, 2019 9:00 pm

Front rim for sale, great condition 19" and requires no re-chrome,
Comes off my Z1 from 1973 and I have found a older rim which after chroming, will cost more than this is for sale.

Hi Ady
when you put it on Ebay, don't forget to mention it's a 305 front rim, for a Z1000A1 or A2 (more likely because of the date code : september 1977)
It's not a Z1 front rim, that should have a 303 rim code!

Hi Ady
I can only advise you to compare it with the asking price of other rims.
I can't put a number on it, sorry.
Good luck !

Had to put it back on my Z1, bought a 303 rim from Germany and had it stripped for rechroming and found lots of small holes.
No refund of course.

Hi Ady
I'm sorry to hear that. Are the holes through the rim or are they only in the chrome?
If they're in the chrome, take it back to the chromers and ask for a rechrome.
If the holes are through the metal of the rim, then the rim stayed probably too long in the tank where the old chrome was removed... or the rim was too far gone... these things happen now and a then. It happened to parts of a '73 Z1 carb set I wanted to replate...the only thing I could do was to find another carb set.

Had long conversation with my chroming people, they know what they are doing Phillippe, they know Z1s very well and also the chroming process. The holes come from the outside in and I looked at the rim and that is the case.
Anyway, just off the holiday plane and the 303 rim was waiting for me at home so now it is with the chrome/wheelbuilder.
Fingers crossed
The 305 rim still for sale no chrome required.
Ady
