The Great South West (ish) Rally

#1 PostAuthor: RALPHARAMA » Tue Apr 09, 2019 8:31 am

17th to 19th May

It's defo happening - The great South West (ish) rally is at the lovely Lower Lode. This lovely mega bike friendly pub with loads of free camping and has been visited by this club twice a year for a long time - "The Rally that's Not a Rally" now IS a Rally!

I will be leading a ride out to somewhere interesting. There will be the usual raffle and we may get a guest appearance from the dreaded Widow Shaker!  - Be afraid ... very afraid

There are a few rooms available and some caravans to rent, but you really want to be booking them ASAP as this is a very popular venue! There's great food, fat bastard breakfasts and real ales and ciders! Even some Eurofizz for those

Hi Ralph, I know this area and the wider Gloucestershire area really well - been driving/riding around there for 45 years - if you need some hints/tips on ride out routes/destinations - PM me you number if you'd like to chat about it.

I hope to come along as it’s very local to me. Not sure I’ll have my paint set back and fitted.

Thanks to Becker for some tips, I have now created a ride out and installed it on my Sat Nav. As usual I will accept all liquid inducements to tell where the ride is going , but no-one will know where it is until we get there, as has become a tradition!

Jerry has supplied us with a rally pack, which will be as much of a surprise to me as you in the raffle as I haven't opened the box, and won't until I drunkenly start pulling raffle tickets from CB's cleavage

Fingers crossed for good weather and a good turnout.

Nothing very detailed really:-

Arrive Friday afternoon/early evening, eat/drink loads and talk crap.

Wake up Saturday, eat fat bastard breakfast prepared by the lovely Sam. Once sufficient people have recovered from the excesses of Friday evening we will set off on a magical mystery tour on our Kawasakis. (other motorcycles are welcome to join in but may feel inferior in the presence of so many Zeds! Zeds being undisputed by anyone worth listening to as the finest motorcycles of all time)

After the ride out more beer and cider is to be drunk and nibbles munched. A raffle will be held at some point when I have had sufficient lubrication. As the evening progresses then more will be eaten and drunk and more crap will be talked with stories getting all the more far fetched as the evening progresses. It is not impossible that strange ritual games will be played with savoury balls later in the evening  :beer :mmm :star :Zz

Sam's fine FBBs will not only be pleasant, but probably a medical necessity on Sunday morning!

Andy, I notice you are new here and a Gloucester lad like myself - although moved to Oxford about 7 years ago.

My summary - so not the official itinerary - but usually something like this:
Fri – for those that are keen - arrive, pitch tent, start drinking / talking bollocks
Sat AM - get up, have breakfast, stand around talking bollocks, prepare for the ride out (those that want to)
Sat AM/PM - more arrivals turn up, pitch tent, start drinking / talking bollocks
Sat PM - ride out returns, start drinking / talking bollocks - those that didn't ride out will probably have been drinking / talking bollocks for several hours
Sat evening - lots of drinking / talking bollocks
Sun - the dead arise and have breakfast, piss taking from the previous evenings antics, tents are packed, goodbyes made, set off home

You may notice a couple of themes :beer :hon

Sounds about right  The ride out is good for giving the liver a rest from the near constant abuse of a rally
