Hello all.

Many thanks for the welcoming replies. Looking forward to pestering you all for info... :D
Unfortunately I want to put the standard exhaust back on its in the loft somewhere.
Also I have to disappoint regarding being Scottish, immediate English and Welsh with distant Irish on my mothers side.
I hope that does add a black mark to me.

Down to business.
I did see a post last week from 2017 regarding the trapezoid Front brake master cylinder off a Z650. I cant get back to the post and wondered if anyone knows of the link (search title) or do you have one yourself you might want to sell?

Many thanks

Hi Laurie
since I'm from Belgium I have no idea what you mean about putting a black mark on you :D
I think it's an UK inside joke that I don't understand...
I just want to warn you about the trapezoid front master brake cylinder: if your bike has a double disc you'll need a 5/8 inch cylinder, if it has a single disc a 1/2 inch will do the job.
You can distinguish them by looking at the bottom. They're marked with " 5/8 TOKICO" or only "TOKICO" at the bottom, so take care when buying them.

Hello Philippe.

Many thanks for the advice on the cylinder size. It has got the twin front discs, so I will keep a look out for a 5/8" size.

Apologies for not considering you in may reply regarding black mark.
I was hoping that not being Scottish wouldn't deter 8 Valve Mark from giving me help and advice, jokingly of course.

Until very recently I was not a regular forum user, how do I add pictures to my posts?
There appears to be three options on the top of the post text box. Img URL and image.
My pictures are on the hard drive of my PC. what's the easiest way to show them here?

Thanks.

Thanks Gus.

Easy when you know how!

Well here is the bike - doesn't look too bad from a distance. Not so good close up.

Been standing for a long - long time, carbs are clogged, front brake none working and found out yesterday only sparking on one side.

I want to take it back to show room if I can, I was inspired by Zed- rider online restoration project, needs a bit of work and replacement parts.

Not sure why one image is on its side?

Hope you like it.

Thanks.

Hi Laurie
that looks like a very nice bike!
Why would you change the front brake master cylinder? Replace the piston, clean the brake calipers, add new brake fluid and the problem with the brakes will be solved.
It's normal that the brakes are seized after standing a lot of years.
I have no experience with the Z650 but I know that the priciples are the same of the Z900-Z1000.
Some advice: get yourself a good workshop manual and go for it.
Good Luck

Great paint-job - it's kinda copying the Z1000A2 lines but actually looks better on the smaller Z650.
