I think I do hate doing switch gear ...virtually every screw seized , alloy eaten by brake fluid crystallisation

Ahh well the switches are on their way one to finish , I would have used a set of replicas as it would be easier but on these the wiring goes inside the bar and it has a hazard switch , new starter button from zpower arrived yesterday 20hrs after ordering- g8 service Phil

Yeah probably a bit sad really ! Even worse when doing up the switch gear I noticed all the tiny anti slip ribs on the buttons had 40 yrs of grit and grime - so I cleaned them out ..

More bits on , found a dyna ignition sender that I bought from Z power in 2005 :D , must have lost it ! anyway that was meant to be , coils are knackered - leads rusted in and snapped - (note the silver paint from the previous artists attempts at spraying the whole bile to tidy it up) , but had a set of emgo coils stuffed in the same cupboard which will be fine for now :) . painted clock bottoms, primed and gloss black , got all the bits now to fit to make sparks , new hsr 42mmMik comes later this week I hope. Orederd a short throttle cable but it will need the longer version due to the position of the carb, one thing I notice about Rickmans is that the wiring harness from the ignition switch from the block connector is to short to get the block connectors into the headlamp - they go tight on full lock .. which isnt that much anyway

Keep at it Ray, it's a sterling effort you've put in.
Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh in a couple of weeks time

,

I must admit to wanting to see the back of it soon , nearly there though , got sparks tonight on 1 & 4 didn't bother testing 2/3 . buffed up all the nickel on the brake and gear levers, there was some bits of nickel worn through or chipped but managed to plate them in a small bath , inc the grotty indicator brackets - infact everything on this bike has been grotty or messed up ! got a little plaque where S&S had cut off the side stand lug to allow for the silencer to be tucked in , its a bit different from the prototype silencer, sits closer in
Hope the carb might be here this week, just emailed Steve at Motocarb , zpower are sending me up a couple of throttle cables , so may get this thing started when your up ??

Footnote ; just had an email from moto carb, it’s at the post office ,do I have everything to get it started , just got to strip the wastegste , I will set low . I see the Z1rtc manual suggested you redline the bike at standstill to set the boost - really ?

Whats the black paint you are using for the switch gear? I have some to do and want to get the right stuff, (not high gloss).
