Oil filter cover plate, obstructed by No3 exhaust?

#1 PostAuthor: Andrew_s » Mon May 04, 2020 12:13 pm

I've finally got round to draining the oil from my Z900 and exhaust pipe No3 appears to run very close to the oil filter cover plate - does this come off without being obstructed by the pipe or do I need to drop/swing the pipe out of the way?

I'm asking as I don't want to find out once I've dropped the cover plate.

Cheers, Andrew

You should have enough wiggle room once you lower the filter. `I didn't take my exhaust off to change it.

Ended up having to loosen exhaust No 3 & 4 to gain a few mm to refit the oil filter cover plate - no big deal and job now done!

Can't you just remove bolt completely, then the filter plate should move away from pipe slightly?
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

Yeah, I did that to remove it and just pulled the bolt out but refitting it wasn't that straight forward as the I'd fitted the filter, spring and washer onto the plate and the bolt would not line up (didn't want to bugger the thread) so just loosened up the exhausts to gain some movement and it popped straight in - just took an extra 10 mins.

Ahhh, forgot about re-fitting! At least it wasn't too difficult fitting the bit's bit loosening pipes :up
