Z1 Front sprocket guard

#1 PostAuthor: MrDavo » Thu Oct 29, 2020 8:56 am

Currently unavailable from Z Power, I need the steel cover that goes over the gearbox sprocket, to stop a wayward chain from wrecking too much. For a Z1A, but from what I can gather it’s the same part for Z1, Z900 or Z1000.

Sadly I don't think it is, Warren. Looking at the 650 parts diagram I found on CMSNL I see a curved piece, on the 900 it covers the whole sprocket and looks like this:

Thanks anyway.

$99.99 - ouch! Then there's probably VAT and the Parcelfarce collection fee to go on top.

At £19.50 less 10%, I think I'll have to wait until Z Power get some more made, I'm already in the queue for an exhaust set.

A quick question - was this guard fitted to all Z1s, or just those who requested it as after sales reassurance?

Maybe I could do without until one turns up, as I'm using a later endless O Ring chain (yes I have done the modifications to fit it).

My Z1B has one. Don’t think they were fitted to Z1000A1 or later models.

Having seen a used one for sale on eBay, but for twice the price of a new (but unavailable) guard, I gave Z Power a ring as their website showed them as simultaneously sold out and available!

They said they will be back in stock in a couple of weeks, and have put me on a waiting list. Also I’m glad I rang as they couldn’t see me on the waiting list for an exhaust set. Apparently they show up in small batches and I’ve been put back near the top, some are expected by the end of the month.

Every 73 to 76 came with one (No kz1000 knowledge).

Can you not just buy a piece of stainless and make one, you don't see it and it certainly won't rust.
