Identify Forks
These forks were on a Z1R project bike I picked up. Don't think they are Z1R, can anyone identify them please as i need to sell them. The chrome is good, no pitting, but they need new seals and a brush up!...
Thanks
Rob
Thanks

Re: Identify Forks
If the stanchions are 36mm Rob I think they are z650 b1. Calipers forward mounted with mudguard stay mounts rear mounted.

Re: Identify Forks
They could also be Z900-A4 forks as they are also the same 36mm.
Mudguard stay mounts are not used on the A4's.

they look like z900 forks. All z650's 1977-1983 calipers were to the rear of forks , which is the same side as the hole for mudguard stay. Hole for mudguard stay is a lot smaller as well.

Re: Identify Forks
Thats not correct Adrian. 77b1 650's were caliper in front of forks. I still have the one I bought new in 77. Stay hole is the same for both 650 & 900

Re: Identify Forks
So, could it be that the original posters forks are from either a Z650 or A4, depending upon what internal springs are fitted ?

Apologies for my error, I was wrong.

It's what I was told when looking at a Z650B1 for sale a few years ago.
Below is a picture of a pair of Z650 B1 forks on sale on ebay - which to my untrained eye the stay hole looks smaller ! What do you think.
