1982/3 Z1000 engine and carbs

#1 PostAuthor: gray » Tue May 10, 2022 7:21 pm

for sale - Z1000 M engine , similar to z1000J but lower lift camshafts and includes US spec carbs. Bought a couple of months ago from a fellow Z1OC member in the hope it would fit my special frame but it will need too much frame tweaking according to my local frame builder today.
Carbs have been rebuilt to UK z1000J spec , and slightly up jetted to take into account it will likely be running a 4 into 1 in the future.
Motor was stripped for inspection and so I could make a "hollow engine" which would be easier to shift and offer up to the frame. Bores seem standard , Crank and gearbox look fine too. It's still all apart so takes out the guesswork when buying an engine.
Bad points - engine paint is flaky so will need blasted, 1 cam holder bolt has been helicoiled in the past and 1 journal on the inlet cam is slightly pitted ( but you'll be swopping them for z1000J cams anyway)
Includes lots of genuine and repro gaskets that I've picked up.
PM me your phone no and I'll send photos
£700 which is what it cost me for all that's on offer here. I'm not keen to split it all up.

If you don’t include pictures your ad will be removed. A picture can say more than a thousand words, as the saying goes.

I read this first before I tried.
I tried following the steps but it doesn't work for my computer/ library setup. My daughter's coming round tomorrow and she'll help me .God I hate computers
( PS Moderator Keith- I didn't realise when I was replying to warren3200gt that it would be added to your tutorial instead of this thread)
