really not messing about what is it as the picture just shows the dash/ idiot lights and the rubber bung thing?
What do you do with it? does it go over the inanition to protect the dash?

I have a bunch of keys on my bike ring (three bikes (5 keys - dont ask) 2 padlocks, 3 door keys and a gate key as well as 2 keys to my toolbox) and a plug points gap gauge as a keyring thing oh yeah and the corrector thing for the sp connect phone mount. So I need something to [protect the dash and chrome bars.

No, there is a hole being hidden by the grommet. To me the hole looks odd and spoils the "dash". Plugging it someway is the way to go.
