Re: Z1000a2 airbox
They have hit the crazy money stage now for what essentially is 2 plastic boxs, there was a bidding war on the snorkel/silencer section that hit $365 for one in good condition on eBay US a week ago. I need 2 but im not holding my breath for them. Surprised no one has 3D printed them yet.

Think i may just stick to individual filters and invest in air corrector kit.

Unless you are going factory build James the Silencer is not that essential and were binned by 70% of owners back in the day (hence why they are so rare). If its a riders bike with an aftermarket exhaust.. a good set of K&N individual filters and re-jetting will get you on the road. These were always my favorite.

Re: Z1000a2 airbox
Thanks for that,i have the four individual filters on it now,its running very rich, fouling plugs,do you have any recommendations for jet sizes,i have the delkevic ceramic pipe on it.any advice very much appreciated.
Re: Z1000a2 airbox
You could take it out for 15 miles and get it hot, take the filters off and ride it home. Dont suck up any stones! If that weakens it off then; the filters are too small or too dirty or poor quality or blocking the pilot air jets or just 'old'*.
* the filter cloth between the mesh swells up with moisture and cloggs them after a certain distance travelled. The air accelerates in order to pass the mesh and cloth and causes a dew point to despoit water vapor from the air.
Test; submerge the dry filter in water. Air passes freely. Hold it under water for ten minutes, lift it out and submerge it again. If it went in easy dry but then you felt resistance on the wet test then they are done!
The oval shaped version is a far better option.

Re: Z1000a2 airbox
James, good advice from Al there but you probably should post in "Bike Help" in the Technical section now you want to ask about a over rich running condition.
First thing first though.
1. What carburettors do you have there - are they original standard z1000A2 OR ARE THEY SOMETHING DIFFERENT ?
Looks like a "parts bike" you have there and the carbs could be anything.
2. What sizes of jets are fitted in your carbs at the moment. Always important to know where you're starting from for others to give advice.
Will look out for any updates .....
If you want to buy an airbox or anything else, its always good to check ebay for a price guide first - some of this old bike stuff can be quite expensive !

Re: Z1000a2 airbox
Hi,thanks for that.the bike is running standard carbs, with a dekevic 4 into 1.engine is also standard.im going to get the air corrector kit and fit it,and see how that goes.the bike has been modified but ive kept all the original parts that came with it.
