ELR Decals

#1 PostAuthor: Skid Mark » Mon Oct 07, 2024 10:15 am

I'm finally getting the paint work for the 1000r sorted.
Can anyone confirm if the crest and signature on the top of the tank was only an American thing or was it standard on the UK/Euro models as well?
Also, if any of you have any tips on the placing of the decals, such as do they wrap around the lip at the head light or stop short and placement on tank etc. My R2 came with R1 colours so can't really compare.
Thanks in advance!

One I did for a mate two years ago. Plus pictures from adverts etc.
He's got a spare set of decals if you need them as I painted them details rather than decals. He wanted the shield on his.
The two shots outside the garages is his bike after I'd finished it.

Gents, Thanks for that!
Warren, Thanks for the offer, but I have the decals already (hope they are still okay, They were bought before the programme was reviewed! ) great detail there. Any advice on placing the crest? I thought/hoped it was an American thing. But if it was on all i better include it.

I never found any definitive info if it was on the euro models so my mate opted to include it. Pig to paint!
He had two sets of decals for the shield both different sizes. One looked odd as it would have been far too big to look right and I used the smaller one as a template for the paint job.
So placing of the shield would have been different for each so i just went with what looked right.

It wasn’t on the white bikes which were UK Euro. There were very few 83 Uk Euro green bikes if there were any at all it was probably German market that got them, I’d hazard a guess there were none into the UK or Ireland. The signature was only on the 82 as Eddie left Kawasaki at the end on the year so his name wasn’t associated with the 83 by Kawasaki. The US got the green 83 with the Superbike Champ badge. So answer is it is probably an American thing - it was the AMA Championship after all - but you can use it if you like. :D

Never thought about that nose fairing wrap around at the front before… my decals don’t I never noticed before but it looks ok. Looking at pictures of various ELRs most do some don’t it’s impossible to tell what the actual original S1 racebike scheme was because they usually have a number board on

Only trust the original khi adverts Chris. They are the only ones that you can guarantee that they are the same as they left the factory.
God's knows how many times non kawasaki original pictures have been repainted.
The decal set supplied by my mate didn't wrap around to the headlight. Just one of the reasons I opted to paint rather than decal his paint job.
