Gearing / rear sprocket size can change the position of the wheel spindle in the axle slot which can shorten or lengthen the wheelbase (- also chain wear / stretch) You said you had a 530 chain / sprocket set up in an earlier post and depending on sprocket sizes, this might produce a small change in axle / spindle position. Looking at your last picture it looks like your wheel spindle is toward the front of the axle slot. Maybe the wheelbase is a little shorter than typical / using 630 chain / sprockets. In 1978 when the Mk2 was launched, most UK bike press reports said the wheelbase was reduced by 3/4 inch i.e. 0.75" shorter than 1000A2/Z1R - the reality was that the Mk2 had a 35 tooth rear sprocket and the 1000A / Z1R had 33 - the swing arm was the same length as the earlier bike - surprisingly the Mk2 looked shorter according to most people but it was only the 2 tooth difference on the sprocket causing - 630 = 0.75" pitch and two extra sprocket teeth shortens the distance between spindle and swing arm pivot by 3/4 inch in both top and bottom chain run hence shorter wheelbase. When you get focused in on these details and take a critical look, small changes can sometimes look like much more to the eye of the observer ! Remember though its a 40 ofd year old bike so someone might have modified / changed the swing arm - but it's probably unlikely - 1000A and 1000B swing arm length are equal !

Theres lots of modern 'arms that'll fit e.g. Zephyr but to be honest I prefer to go shorter - looks a bit odd to most people but goes around corners better..... longer 'arms were good for the drag strip but with the Streetfighter craze in the 90's they made a popular "look" and its like that "look" is what most people now think of for a modified Zed. Back in the 70's when people raced them around the track you'd almost never see a longer swingarm - some cut the legs in half and slotted in smaller thicker "sleeve" tubes inside and welded them up for strength - some made them a bit shorter at the same time, some used Z650 'arms (and front fork yokes with shorter offset). With some frame bracing the old Zed will go through the twisty bits a lot better but it'll be less stable at high speed.
As I keep saying though, its your bike, you can do what you want !

Bike looks fine - not abnormally short to my eye - perhaps the low slung exhaust system changes the perception of length to make the bike look short - though as I say I'm not really seeing it ....
On the plus side, if you had a 4 into 1 fitted right now, all of that cow shit you mentioned would be stuck between the four header pipes under the motor in front of the collector and probably baked on with the heat....
yeah bike does look right, i think it was just the angle of the pic's. its a mix and match, headers are Delkevic and the end can is a Kerker, ive got a badge coming for the can that i'll rivet on. looks more fitting for the style of bike.
