I've had a similar issue with mixing and matching gpz1100b1 and b2 forks and unitrac calipers.

What i found is this: the unitrack calipers and carriers are identical from 550 to 1100. On gpz1100b the positions of the caliper mounting lugs on the fork legs vary to match the disc size. You probably have unitrak 1100 discs and 750 legs by the sounds of it. You can probably fix this by either changing the discs to match the legs (ie fit 750 discs), changing the legs to 1100 ones (probably the best option if you can find good fork legs) or making a set of custom caliper brackets to match it all up.

Thanks Guys I do have a set of 1100 fork legs that i can try as i am sure now that is the issue. i will give this a go as soon as i can and report back
