FACTORY BOLT TORQUE PAINT BLOBS

#1 PostAuthor: bedlow1 » Tue Feb 05, 2008 6:24 pm

Its a bit anoraky i know but do you know the various locations of these marks on the z1B. I think they were all yellow or were some white? guess they done them at the factory as i cant see the dealer checking bolt torques and blobbing on paint.
Maybe if one of you has an unrestored bike you could let me know or some images would be nice

Cheers

I know its sad but I also started looking into this, had a good look at the 100% original Z1 that was on youtube for some idea, areas such as brake splitter, top yoke nuts/bolts,calliper,and some carb screws all seem to have had the yellow paint treatment in the past, havent seen white on any though. :D

MrB

Remember my old B? - well that had the original yellow still in place.
This is not a definitive list but, from memory, there was certainly yellow paint on the top yoke pinch bolts and the rear brake lever pivot domed bolt. Don't recall paint on the lower yoke pinch bolts but logically there should have been I guess. Pretty sure there was yellow on the balancing adjuster screws too - but nothing else on the carbs. Don't recall any white paint anywhere.
That's a start anyhow. Well the beginnings of a start anyhow.

My NOS carbs have the yellow paint on certain screws, so it is a factory thing.

You big kidder! Why it's Kawasaki yellow - everyone knows that

If Halfords no longer stock it, try Humbrol 583 - it's the colour specified for the aircrews' life jackets in their WWII aircraft range.
